Inspired by the connections we make through global travel, Hilton practices hospitality in more sustainable and impactful ways than ever before. Our strategy is called Travel with Purpose, and our aim is to drive responsible travel and tourism globally. A key element of Travel with Purpose is Meet with Purpose, a program launched to help empower customers to select more sustainable options while enhancing the attendee experience and positively impacting the communities where they gather. In addition, Meet with Purpose supports hotel efforts to drive progress in reducing energy and water usage, and waste generation.

Our Meet with Purpose offerings allows customers to: GATHER, NOURISH, and IMPACT during meetings and events.
Gather sustainably
Based on the Meeting Impact Calculator and the Meet with Purpose Checklist, make informed, high-impact, low-waste choices that can reduce the environmental footprint of an event. For example, print name tags or badges on seed paper that can be planted to grow wildflowers and share pre-travel guidance with attendees on how they can make their journeys more sustainable.
Nourish attendees
We all know food brings everyone together and is such an important part of a meeting or event. And so we offer climate-conscious menus that feature locally sourced, sustainably grown meals that are designed to boost energy, minimize waste and, of course, taste amazing.
Impact the destination
Engage attendees through meaningful community initiatives including volunteer activities and donating excess food. Bring attendees together and leave the community better.
Track our environmental progress
LightStay is Hilton’s industry-leading platform that allows every hotel to measure and manage their carbon, waste, water, energy, and other environmental performance factors. LightStay reporting offers a snapshot of Hilton’s environmental and social impact globally at both the property level and company-wide.
Hilton has been named a Global Industry Leader on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for eight consecutive years.
Meeting Impact Calculator Report
The Meeting Impact Calculator report provides a detailed estimate of the environmental footprint of a specific meeting or event planned at a Hilton property. The report uses the number of attendees, meals, total number of room nights, the amount of event space, number of event days, along with the hotel’s specific environmental measurements, to estimate carbon emissions, energy use, water use, and waste that will be produced. Recent enhancements allow customers to quantify the impact of the sustainable choices made by planners for an event, including:
- Using digital key
- Eliminating plastic water bottles in meeting spaces
- Selecting low-carbon food options
- Donating or diverting unused food
LightStay and the Meeting Impact Calculator reports are available at every Hilton property around the world.
